SF Metrics Meetup: FluentD and Blueflood

The first SF Metrics Meetup in 2014 was held at Rackspace's Geekdom SF office featuring Sadayuki Furuhashi from Treasure Data and Lakshmi Kannan from Rackspace.  For those of you who couldn't make it, here are the recordings:

Fluentd: Open Source Log Management

Sadayuki Furuhashi, Treasure Data

Fluentd is an open source log collector/data stream processor used in production at hundreds of companies including Nintendo, Slideshare and LINE. Fluentd makes it easy to collect and store data from many places and helps developers analyze and monitor their log data. In this talk, Sada, co-founder of Treasure Data, goes over the basics of Fluentd and a couple of real-world use cases.

Blueflood - Multi-tenanted open source time series data-store at scale

Lakshmi Kannan, Rackspace

Blueflood is an open source multi-tenant distributed metric processing system created by engineers at Rackspace. It is used in production by the Cloud Monitoring team to process metrics generated by their monitoring systems. Blueflood is capable of ingesting, rolling up and serving metrics at a massive scale. In this talk, Lakshmi from Rackspace covers the architecture and operational aspects of Blueflood, how they have scaled the system to collect billions of data points per day and some of the exciting features that are in the works.
